The African Maritime Security Institute (AMSI) is an independent, non-profit institution dedicated to advancing maritime security, the rule of law, ocean governance, and the sustainable blue economy across Africa. Through high-quality capacity-building, research, policy development, and strategic partnerships, AMSI supports African States and institutions in strengthening their ability to implement international legal and policy frameworks, enhance maritime governance, and address emerging maritime challenges.

Our Objectives
✔️Promote Maritime Security and Blue Economy: Prevent piracy, terrorism, illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing, and other illicit activities while promoting sustainable fishing practices and marine conservation.
✔️Foster Sustainable Ocean Governance: Build capacity and promote cooperation among African states to address maritime security challenges and promote sustainable ocean governance.
✔️Provide Specialized Training and Research: Offer capacity-building programs, research outcomes, and advisory services to support African states in developing their maritime security and ocean governance capabilities.
✔️Combat Maritime Crimes: Prevent and suppress maritime crimes, including illegal migration, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
✔️Facilitate Technical Assistance: Support coastal states in making and defending submissions before the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).
